The island of Formentera is well worth a visit at any time of the year. This little jewel in the Mediterranean Sea is home to paradisiacal beaches, so much so that its turquoise, crystal-clear waters rival those you can find in the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean.
In the middle of spring, the months of April and May are ideal to enjoy the island with longer days and without the high temperatures of summer; therefore, we propose some active tourism activities that you can’t afford to miss:
Sports Competitions
6 and 7 April: the Formentera All Round Trail is held, with races of 74, 40, 21 and 10 km.
13 and 14 April: the MTB Cycle Tour and the Trasmapi WingFoil Cup, a relatively new sport that is gaining more and more followers.
27 and 28 April: the Open Caza Fotosub Apnea, an underwater photo competition.
8 May: the eDreams Formentera Marnaton (open water swimming) is held.
11 May: the Formentera 1/2 Marathon + 8KM is held.
Formentera Zen
Sponsored by the Island Council of Formentera and the specialised company Puro Bienestar, Formentera Zen is an event that allows participants to enjoy masterclasses, workshops and talks on the latest trends in well-being. This event, which brings together renowned professionals, will be held from 17 to 19 May. Formentera invites you to spend several days experiencing health and happiness, and Hotel Rosales Formentera is a very good accommodation option. Located in Es Pujols, one of the most famous tourist areas of Formentera, it offers easy access to any other area of the island.
Horse riding
The climate, the terrain and the many landscapes make the island of Formentera the ideal place to enjoy horse riding excursions during this time of year. There is something for all tastes and types of riders. Short tours or full-day routes for the more experienced. Local companies offer a variety of proposals and private lessons for those who want to get started in practising this sport. We will advise you on this and other activities at reception.
Camino de Sa Pujada
Considered the oldest and most beautiful path in Formentera, the Camino de Sa Pujada has been connecting the highest part of Formentera, La Mola, with the lower part and the sea for centuries. This cobbled path runs between pine forests and spectacular views over the cliffs, the neighbouring island of Ibiza and the peculiar orography of Formentera that extends sinuously under the sun.
